The Art of Clay Target Shooting and Safe Shotgun Handling

On Saturday July 13, from 9:00 am to 3 pm., the Seymour Fish & Game would like to provide a Basic Shotgun Shooting Course to a group of 20 students. Lunch will be served.

All persons must sign a waver, students of less than 18 years of age will need a parent to sign their waver. Alcohol is not permitted on the grounds, the mere smell of alcohol around you will be reason for expulsion. Respect for fellow shooters is mandatory.

There is a cost of $20 per student to cover the training material and lunch, payable at the door after you sign the waver.

Pets, dogs, cats will not be allowed on club property during training.

This is a first come first serve event. Available to the first 20 members.

A commitment will be required, if you change your mind please change your status so that others can have a chance to sign up. Do not sign up if you are not sure you can make it, many have asked for this course and interest is high, so give others a chance if you cannot attend, courtesy is key.

Other dates will be made available in the near future if you can't make this one.

Name of course : Basic Shotgun Shooting Course.

Description : This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for the safe and proper use of a shotgun.

You will be shooting at a moving round bright orange clay target, no animals are involved and none will be harmed.

Plan to be at your best behavior, your safety and courtesy for fellow shooters is key.

Club rules must be adhered to at all times, no alcohol will be permitted on club grounds,

You may not bring your own shotgun for this event.

Details: This course includes classroom and range time, learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets. Ear protection, safety glasses, ammunition and a loaner weapon will be provided.

Students learn rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development.

Students will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Shotgun Shooting Student Examination, and receive a Course Completion Certificate.

If you miss this course, there may be another in the near future.

This will be an NRA certified course.

If you have never shot a shotgun before and want to learn, then this event is for you. Be ready for a fun day.

To those of you who have shot before and want more time on the range to shoot, the club offers Trap and skeet shooting on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
