Renaissance Theaterworks is creating art for the set of The Road to Mecca by Athol Fugard and we can all participate. It actually takes no artistic talent! It is free and everything you'll need is supplied. Come get your hands dirty and learn about the outsider artist the play is about, while you meet new people and make some art for the play's set and the theater's lobby. The artist Kathryn Martin is leading the event and aiming to make a few thousand of these small sculptures with the intent of giving them to audience members who come see the show. The play is about an outsider artist much like Milwaukee's own Mary Nohl. Find Renaissance on Facebook to see photos of some sculptures that have already been created.
Owl Makers! Be sure to look at the special thanks section of the playbill for THE ROAD TO MECCA! Thank you so much for helping make the owls that are in the lobby AND by the way, patrons are absolutely LOVING all the owls! See you at the show! Thank you
April 10
This was fantastic! Very glad to meet all of you! Thank you so much for helping make the event a success and contributing your talents to our upcoming show...too bad we have to wait until April to see the show! Well, we still have a lot of owls to make and if there's interest, we could probably do this again together.
December 3
Loads of fun! I'm hoping to see my owls when I attend the production!

We are expecting around 100 people to come to this. Renaissance Theaterworks staff and board members, our meet up group, other community friends and 2 youth groups. 88.9 is coming to do a community story about it, this will be amazing to be a part of!
The entrance to the building is in a breezeway between Urban Outfitters and the public parking lot. I'll meet you outside at the entrance. If you have any trouble finding us please call [masked].
