About The Austin C/C++ Meetup Group

Welcome! Right now this meet up doesn't have a strong meeting agenda, it's mostly an opportunity for programmers to meet and get to know each other. Frequent topics of discussion include

  • Gotchas in a particular language (most especially C++, because it's ripe with gotchas, but not exclusively).
  • Experiences using a particular library or programming tool.
  • Stories about working as a programmer.
  • Beer.

Currently, the group includes professional, hobbyist, and student programmers working in and dealing with C, C++, C#, Objective-C, D, Java, Python, Perl, and PHP. There's definitely a bias toward compiled languages (and languages that compile to machine code), but it's hardly exclusive. A good programmer can work in any language. Likewise, we have a variety of Unix, Windows, and Mac programmers.

Recruiters are welcome to attend. Recruiters who would like to give a brief (no more than 5 minutes) presentation to the group are asked to foot the bill for a few pitchers of beer or pizzas.
