Cromwell Valley Park
This is a reminder/announcement of Sunday morning trail run held by the Baltimore Area Triathlon Club at Cromwell Valley Park just north of Towson, Md.
The run begins at 8am at Cromwell Valley Park's Willow Grove parking area (link to directions - http://www.cromwellva.... )
We run for anywhere between 60-90 minutes. We have had more than a dozen runners show up each week of running varying speeds. This week will probably see a lighter attendance due to the JFK 50 and the Philadelphia Marathon but many of us will still be there.
The run is considered a "no drop" run, which means the leaders wait up for everyone at the tops of hills and trail intersections. Nobody gets left behind. If you need a fast paced, uninterrupted run this may not be the run for you. Some of our faster runners treat the run as an interval workout, sprinting up the hills and resting at the tops.
If you need a challenging workout, we have a couple of people at the front who can really move!
Trail conditions should be good for Sunday this week. Trail shoes are not necessary but your feet may get muddy. The hills are steeper than those encountered on the roads and we do run quite a few hills. There are bailouts available for people wishing to run for a shorter duration than the rest of the group.
We are getting to the point where we might be able to split into two groups, but based on the other activity in the area this weekend we'll probably hold off on that for a bit.
On a related front - we will be moving our Sunday run around a bit this winter, and plans are in the works for runs in the Rockburn, and Avalon areas of Patapsco (south of Baltimore), as well as Oregon Ridge and other areas of Loch Raven. We'll start moving around after the holidays.
