Hi Gloria,
Thanks for the email. Although I think DITR is a great triathlon, I
wouldnt recommend it unless you are a strong biker at this point and
are comfortable in open water. However, the fact that you are in good
shape will play in your favor if you choose to register for the race.
The DITR is (almost) an Olympic length, with a very hilly bike course.
I am not sure what type of bike you have, but it might be a bit tough
without a road/tri bike.

I would suggest coming to the BATC Swim, bike run workout on the 28th-
its free, and it will allow you to gauge your tri fitness level. We
are doing a 1500 meter swim, a 14 mile bike and then a 5k. So the
DITR course is longer, but if you can handle this without trouble you
should be fine. Or you can do what a lot of people do, which is cut
down the length of the swim and bike so they can get a feel for
things. If anything just come and and meet us- we are quite nice and
kinda fun:)

If you feel you arent ready for the 11th I will be happy to direct you
to a bunch of local tris that might interest you. I can also send you
a copy of a chapter from my tri training book that helps you set up a
training program

All the best in your training
Sheryl.
