Since we started our vegan diet mid-October 2011, it has been relatively easy being vegan. Partly because we already cook almost all of our meals at home and since 5 years ago, we have banned all artificial colorings and preservatives, sodas and junk food from our home. In addition, we are reassured that we made the right choice as we have quickly started feeling a difference in our bodies. Even the kids have commented how "awake" they feel! We have more energy, our digestive systems feel much better, less/near to none cravings, and a whole other things we have been discovering along the way. Most importantly for me, I have had no depression symptoms since. Support from group: Meet other vegan families in Baltimore and share experiences. Topics of interest: vitamin B12 and omega 3; new recipes; alternatives for kids school lunches; how to make veggie burgers; dealing with the “social” factor; groceries budgeting when buying organics; nearby farmer’s markets; vegan restaurants
We are the Montanez family. After watching “Forks over Knives”, we felt disgusted with what we have been led to believe about the effects of food on our health and the environment. We want to learn more about being vegan and a healthier lifestyle.
