Thats seasonal and that exists everywhere. If you buy Fuji Apples....sometimes they come from China, sometimes Washington, sometimes New York, sometimes New Zealand or Germany. But probably almost never from where you think it does. The season is chased by the distributor. This happens with everything we eat outside of grain and rice and when it comes to fresh produce...grocers really have no choice in the matter. You can't get apples from New York in January...they NEED to come from somewhere else.
