Terra de Remences

  • May 12, 2013 · 8:00 AM

The XVI Terra de Remences is one of the popular rides in Catalonia, 3,000 riders leave from Sant Esteve d'en Bas in la Garrotxa. There are two distances, 95 and 175km, both terrific rides, if you dont mind mixing it with some over-enthusiastic cyclists. Inscription opens on 01/03/2013 but it will be oversubscribed. All the details are here: http://www.terraderemences.com/

A bit hard to find eachother for a meetup group, especially since I arrived from Bcn just 10min before race start ;-). QH will be different, staying together in the place that Hollis found for us.

It was a great race, and a fantastic landscape that we went through. Organization was really good, with good signalling, and warnings whenever there was a dangerous curve or turn. Great control of the traffic. I met Johnny out on the route, although we did not have time to chat :-). Personally satisfied with the result. Have to improve on those descents... damn' there are some fast downhill people around here...

I know of only two cyclobicientadores who did the ride, me and Guido, and we got no closer than What's apping each other; with some 3,000 riders milling around disguised as real cyclists it was not easy to meetup.
That's not criticism of the organisation, which was fine, plenty of free stuff, breakfast before the start and food after, good stewarding and support. Mind you they did turn over more than 13,000€. And the ride was great. I'm no climber, so the descent to Olot was the high point for me.
I expect to post it again next year, so I hope more riders can make it.

Enjoy the ride - madly jealous. Have been trying to get out for a ride today but so far it has rained 13 times since 9 this morning. See you all in June.

I'd love to do the short route, but I think I can't make it that day (and my guess is that there's no spots left now anyway).
But if anyone would like, I'll be very happy to lead the short route for our cycling club on a later date. If you're interested, please let me know!
For those doing the ride, I'm a big envious, and I hope you have a GREAT time!

Just learned my wife is going to a friend's wedding this weekend so I'll be looking after both kids which means I can't make the ride this year. If anyone has a car and would like to drive up and ride the route sometime I'd be interested as I'd love to see the area and do some climbing.

Hola David, I can't ride weekday mornings unless it's a holiday - post a ride suggestion and maybe you'll get a taker - Kevin lives nearby

I could join you on this ride, if it is the coming weekend 20-21th or the weekend 4-5th May.
