Ray Davies (The Kinks)

The lead singer of The Kinks and member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame talks about his remarkable career and in particular his new book , Americana, which explores his complex relationship with the USA. He looks back at the country whose culture he devoured as a young boy, which he and The Kinks so successfully ‘invaded’ in the early 1960s and which then banned him from performing for four years.

If anyone is going and wants to meet up afterwards for a drink and chat about Ray - let's do it. Suggestions for drink venue welcome, there are loads nearby, but I don't know Bristol that well.

Tickets are £8 plus booking = £10 from http://www.stgeorgesbristol.co.uk/event/festival-of-ideas-ray-davies/

For those who don't know anyone else from the group, then I look like my photo, except I've got a ginger Mo and silver Go that I've grown for Movember. See you there.

Laureen's idea is good. The bar will be open from 5:30pm and the concert hall doors open at 6pm. So, I will aim to be in the bar around 5:45 if anyone wants to join me. Then we can meet up again afterwards in the bar - makes it nice and easy. Just in case, my mobile is[masked]

there's a bar in the crypt of St Georges which could be an option. Where are you meeting up - maybe by the entrance to the ticket office?

I'm happy if it's the sort of place where we can chat - do they have TV showing football? Others places along Park St - Antix, Allin One, Salute!, Elbow Room all look similar - do you know these? Then further up there is Cafe Rouge. Where is a good old fashioned pub when you need one!

    • Gianni

Hi Steve, I haven't got any problem about places, Cafe Rouge is fine to have a chat as well...just let me know about it and we can even meet before the concert if you like no problem,we'll keep in touch anyway, cheers! :)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
