Morning Heritage Walk East

  • Nov 9, 2013 · 11:00 AM
  • Neptune Statue

More spots are available on this walk via its still all free, See Bristol Art, Heritage and Landscape Group

We take a brisk walk straight through Old City to stop when we cross the hidden River Frome, to head down to visit The New Rooms then on to explore Blackfriars and Quakers Friars and on to Penn Street to head to Castle Park where we explore the water gate area and move on to St Peters and St Mary Le Port before heading for St Nicholas in Old City, we cross the breadth of Old City to where there was once a fish market on the quay and time permitting, look inside St Stephen's Church which has a fascinating history dating back to the time soon after the River Frome had been diverted for extra berthing of ships. We head back into the walled Norman town along St Nicholas Street to join others for 1pm at the Slug and Lettuce, for those who want to go to James event at Centre Space Gallery.

We won't be stopping for a sit down drink till the end of the journey. The route is a smidgen over 2 miles.

Thanks for letting me know Victor, I hope your hiccup has resolved itself. Mine was merely putting my purse in a daft place, and I found it!

Thanks Claire, I am keeping all events as already scheduled for Bristol and Bath Everything Group, but I am closing down attendance to those already booked. I have finally decided to start my own group based on Bristol and my own interests. I shall let you know when its sorted. I will still join in events in this group organised by other members.
