Cider Speed-dating!

Yes, that’s right, as part of this year's South West Cider & sausage festival hosted by Bristol Cider Shop at the Southbank Centre, Southville, they are also holding cider speed dating! And yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like - a cross between cider tasting and speed dating :)

You will have 5 minutes with up to 12 different dates, and with each date you get to try a different, award-winning cider!

So not only is it more fun than normal speed dating - but you've got twice the chance of finding someone/ something you like!!

I am your host for the evening(s) :)

(Saturday 3rd May mid20s-mid30s) 7p.m prompt
(Sunday 4th May mid30s-mid40s) 7p.m prompt.

Tickets must be bought in advance via the Bristol Cider Shop website on their events and tours page where you will also find further details of the cider dating and festival.

Hope you can make it! Jo :)

I said "a limited number" Helen; I certainly did not say it wasn't possible! From an organisational point of view the cider shop decided to make age categories as that is what most dating events have. However, the dating/tasting evening is open to all ages on Saturday now, and even people who aren't single can do it as long as they stipulate that they're not looking! If this interests anyone then you can turn up at the southbank centre at 7pm Saturday. It will cost you £5 to get in and IF we get sufficient take-up you will get to sample 12 ciders and perries for a mere fiver!

I'm sorry to those who the age brackets exclude but we had set these as there are a limited number of people in their 20s who would want to "date" people in their 50s etc. Maybe in the future we will host another category but really is impossible to please all the people all the time.
For the people this applies to... I'd like to duplicate the info that I just put into the singles meet-up group... At £20 this is the same price as most other speed-dating events whereby you don't get a single drink. There will also be a few nibbles to soak up the cider and your booking includes free entry to the cider festival and the music entertainment downstairs afterwards.
    Jo :)

Jo, how do you know people in their twenties wouldn't want to date people in 50s? Ir does happen you know.

I'd also like to make people aware that Neil P has posted a meet-up event in the 'Bristol Active Social Group' inviting people who want to go to the Cider festival but not the speed-dating.
He will be meeting people from Meet-up and City Socializer at 8 p.m. I will ensure that there is a sign for both organisations on the wall in case anybody cannot spot the others attendees. :)

Shame about the age range, I am too old for both!

Hi Jo, you can attend the main cider festival at the same venue.

Hi Jo, I hate this age-ist thing - also being too old for either of the Meet-Ups suggested. That does not seem a very 'social' line to draw in a 'social' group, although Meet-Up does it a lot. I am actually away that weekend, but would have gone otherwise ... great venue, love Zider .. hmm, long walk home to WSM tho!! On a brighter note, Meet-up organisers also put on LOADS of other things that are not age-ist.

Sorry Maggie, if it goes well we may well host same sex/wider age ranges in the future.
Nobody is too old for cider, however. You can, of course, come along to just the actual cider festival...! :)
There will be a huge range of sausages to sample and over 30 varieties of artisan ciders.
Entry is free in the day or just £5 for the Saturday or Sunday evening with entertainment laid on. I'm helping with the sausage selling in the day and will be tied up for half of the evening with the cider dating in the upstairs function room but I'm sure I could arrange for someone to meet and greet people if they just wanted to come along for an evening of the festival...! :)
Pete (of The Bristol Cider Shop) is talking about the festival and the cider dating on BCFM radio this Wednesday - it's all getting very exciting! :)

Firstly I'd need a driver for the nite and secondly I'm outside both age groups being in my 50's so I guess that excludes me?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
