Hey Everyone, as far as I can tell you can only upload photos to the site and not video. Therefore I've posted footage of the ice skating to you-tube under private listing - only people with the link can see it:

    http://youtu.be/GxzFtCGFtdo

Thank-you to my executive producer Will for suggesting the soundtrack - please watch with audio if possible! :-)

Yes, a return visit would be great.

Brilliant Photos everybody. The Ice rink closes on the 6 or 9th January so I think we should go again that week :)

If its on tomorrow, is anyone walking up from the station or near abouts?

    November 24, 2012

  • Bex

Hi All, I will telephone the venue in the morning to see if if the park/skating is open tomorrow due to all the rain and will email you all in the morning and let you know. Thanks. Becky

    November 24, 2012

  • Bex

Thanks Will and Tim, that is all really useful. 95 tickets a!!! Fingers crossed for a dry day all :-)

    November 24, 2012

  • Will

Just tried to get a ticket but apparently you can't book less than 24 hours in advance! There are about 95 tickets left for the 3-4pm slot though, so the ticket office was fairly confident that anyone turning up on the day will get in!

Just visited the Ice Rink and watched people skating in the rain. Last Thursday the Ice Rink was a lake and was closed. If the Ice Rink becomes a lake tomorrow, the Ice Rink will be closed and our money refunded, other wise business as normal.
Viewing is from the Marquee with trestle tables. There is secure storage for bags at the cost of £1. The Café is a Garden Shed; however, there is a brick build café nearby with toilets.
Location is within viewing distance of the Royal Crescent on the Bath side of the Park.

Just double checked the weather and it says a bit of rain at 10am on Sunday and then rest of the day looks fine and sunny but colder. There looks like rain coming in during the evening, so as i say, we should be ok, but as always, see what Sunday brings and we can decide then :-)

    November 23, 2012

    • claire

      Great Thanks :)

      November 23, 2012

  • claire

Hi Becky, The weather is supposed to be horrendous over the weekend. Do we know if they have a cancellation policy? Thanks Claire :)

    November 23, 2012

    • Bex

I had heard the weather will be awful tomorrow and tomorrow night but cold, dry and sunny on Sunday, like today with rain coming in Sunday night, so it should be ok. I will however, give them a call tomorrow and check if they have a cancellation policy just in case, as we have paid upfront, i would of thought they would. :-)

    Hi All

    November 23, 2012

Shall i just stand on the side feeding you drinks??

      1 · November 22, 2012

Claire, Thanks for the suggestion on parking. Will go shopping for some Mulled wine. I wonder will I be the only person clinging to the perimeter boards? Cheers Tim

    November 21, 2012

  • claire

we should meet at victoria park as people will be coming from all places. Those driving are best parking in the park itself or at Charlotte Street Car park. Whall we meet outside the Pavillion in Victoria Park Becky?

    November 21, 2012

    • Bex

Yes ok, will change the meeting venue. Not got a clue where it is, but I am sure i will find it!!!

      November 21, 2012

  • Bex

Hi All, Just looked on the site, and it looks like the rink supply the skates. It recommends that people wear gloves for safety and helmets!!! (I have a motorbike crash helmet - but not sure if that counts!) maybe not.... Sadly though, it looks like they will not be serving the mulled wine and cider until the 10th Dec, not sure why. So if anyone needs a drink for dutch courage we will have time on route to the park to stop somewhere for a quick one. Becky :-)

    November 21, 2012

    • lucie g

i am wondering.... Have visions of lots of teenages whizzing round and us lot clinging on to the sides for dear life. Me on my derriere most of the time. Oh! well we will be providing the entertainment.

      November 21, 2012

    • claire

If everybody buys a bottle of mulled wine from marks n spencer, heats it up puts it in a flask and brings it along, that would do :)

      2 · November 21, 2012

  • Louisa

Ticket booked. Now somewhere around I have my own skates left over from my teenage ice skating days, although I fear they're in storage ...

    November 20, 2012

    • Bex

Do not worry they supply the skates, well at least i think they do, goodness me i hope they do..... i will check tomorrow :-)

      November 20, 2012

  • Bex

Hi Steve, Just to let you know you will need to book your ticket in advance in case there are not any on the day. I hope you can make it! it certainly should be interesting..... and hopefully fun.... Becky :-)

    November 20, 2012

  • Tim H.

I am preparing the bubble wrap to match my in experience on the ice. I will buy a Mulled wine to the 1st person who falls over. I don't know if is to create more people falling over or lessen the pain :)

    Booked tickets.
I am bringing 3 guests but would only let me bring 2 on form. Lisa is coming with her teenage son. I am bringing my teenage daughter.

      Good idea (I think)! :-)

      November 18, 2012

  • claire

Nice to see so many people it will be a great laugh. Becky and I decided it would be easier if everybody just bought their own tickets, I'm a bit too busy to do it. I've just booked mine :) I hope there aren't any good skaters out there, it will spoil the fun. Getting my CFL padding out for the occasion :)

    November 14, 2012

  • claire

I've just spoken to Colin at BOI and he suggested that we buy the tickets together to avoid everybody paying the online fee. If you want to transfer the money into the bank account I will purchase all of the tickets on Wednesday next week. Becky, would you like to send an email to everybody in the group informing them of this last call for RSVP's or would you like me to do it? Cheers Claire x

    November 9, 2012

    • Bex

hi Claire, yes will send a message out to everyone, although Tim has already purchased his ticket . What date shall i put down for last RSVP`s? thanks Becky x

      November 9, 2012

  • Tim H.

I have booked Sun 25th Nov at 3pm. I am already imagining the aroma of the mulled wine.
If you fancy a giggle type into Google "Images Ice Skate humour"

    November 9, 2012

  • claire

If the tickets go fast and they are limited, I don't think we should wait. Becky do you think we should put a cut off for rsvp's. Is there a way of finding out how fast the tickets are going and what the capacity is for any one session? What a pain I am! Sorry :)

    November 8, 2012

    • Bex

hi, i agree with Claire its best not too wait. The guy i spoke to said the weekend was very popular so tickets would go fairly fast but he did not say how fast.... so not sure really.

      November 8, 2012

  • Tim H.

Becky & Claire I was close, today, to booking online. I guess it is have more faith and wait for 20 people.
When I noticed 20 people on the council web site I was going to email other meet up people who have attended previous events.
Is it too early to judge whether we will reach the target 20 people?

    November 8, 2012

  • claire

I phoned and left a message today. Is it cheaper to book as a group?

    November 7, 2012

    • claire

      ah! sorry didn't rtfm :s

      November 7, 2012

    • Bex

You never know , we might get 20 takers......

      November 7, 2012

  • claire

OOh do we get to skate :)

    November 4, 2012

    • Bex

Yes you do, i believe they are hourly slots, so thought would go with the 3pm-4pm slot then relax or recover by the cafe after and watch some of the skating :-)
