The Bay Area Creative-Immersion Meditation Practice Pages

We (Mireya and Rosy) are artists and creative arts therapists living in the Bay Area. What began as a longing to create a freeing arts practice for ourselves became a deep desire to provide an authentically enlivening experience for others. For over a year, we explored the questions, "What kind of conditions would just naturally, organically nurture the creative process in people? And, what kind of structure and container could safely hold and guide a diversity of experiences?"

Once we found answers to these questions, we began offering Release, Immerse & Emerge! (R.I.E.) to the local community and have continued to do so over the past year. Keeping things as simple as possible, we've "gathered" the essentials: a large space to move (i.e. Ashkenaz in Berkeley), a variety of art materials to play with, a living communal altar, an inspiring backdrop of music, and fun tips for releasing the creative impulse.

How R.I.E. Can Benefit Existing Groups

Thanks to the feedback of our brave and playful participants, we've come to realize that what we're doing does not only serve as a wonderful personal practice, but provides an opportunity for already existing groups to build community while nourishing their individual members. Because of this, we are currently offering R.I.E. as a self-contained experiential workshop to groups, organizations and communities. If you are a member of (or know of) a group that might benefit from one or more R.I.E. sessions (each lasting 2 and 1/2 hours), please let us know! It would be an honor to help facilitate a positive, bonding and self-nurturing experience for you and the people you live, play, pray or work with.

An Invitation to Collaborate!

Because of the adaptive nature and integrative potential of R.I.E. (and because we can travel -- by car!), we are also looking to collaborate with other Bay Area workshop leaders who would like to include a rich creative process (tailored to their specific needs) as part of their offering -- whether it be a weekend workshop, a week-long retreat or a staff training. If our art-immersion practice could somehow deepen and expand the wonderful work you're already doing with your workshop participants, we would be thrilled to join forces.

R.I.E. is for:

-- People who love to explore and express themselves through the arts (whether it be dancing, doodling, collaging, sculpting, painting, tinkering, writing, listening to wonderful music, or introspecting with the help of tarot decks and inspiring reading materials).

-- People who long to sink-in, loosen-up, let-go, follow-their-own-expressive-flow in a judgment-free and deeply permission-giving environment.

-- People who are open to an alternative meditation practice that uses the creative process as a vehicle to coming home.

-- People who can use the gift of time & spaciousness in their busy everyday lives... where there are no 'shoulds', no one to take care of, nothing to prove, no need to 'perform', and plenty of time to nourish and feed the heart, body and soul.

-- People who love the idea of connecting deeply with themselves while enjoying a shared group environment.

Creative meditation sessions generally last 2 and 1/2 hours long. To assist us with rent and art materials, we charge a fee for these events. No artistic experience necessary!
