Title: Doc Brown: A Distributed Array Database
Presenter: Brian Davis
The last decade has seen a proliferation in the number and resolution of satellites, environmental sensors, and numerical models. Most array databases, though, use a scale-up architecture that's a poor fit for the distributed processing and concurrent queries necessary to deal with this raster explosion. Doc Brown aims to fill this niche, providing fast, highly parallel, versioned access to multi-dimensional array data.
This talk will focus on the high-level design of Doc Brown, as well as the pros and cons of using Clojure in the scientific computing space.
