Clojure Dojo

Firstly, I'd like to say a big thanks to everyone who attended the March Clojure dojo. For those who couldn't make it, we had a pretty good turn out with over 15 attendees and after briefly discussing what people wanted to get out of the dojo and coming up with some ideas for future events, we spent the evening working through some Project Euler problems in groups of 3 or 4. I'm planning on setting up a GitHub account so anyone who is interested can take a look at what we produced.

I also had recommendations from some of you that firstly, you'd like to have practical meetups more frequently with a suggestion that we meet twice monthly and secondly that some of the group would like to work on longer term projects such as improving the Clojure documentation or working on open source libraries.

Personally I think these are great ideas and so I'm proposing one dojo style event per month and one hack day or swarm coding style event per month. This would be in addition to the user group meetup which is currently more presentation than hands on. If this is something people would find beneficial, I'll find out whether ThoughtWorks is happy to host twice a month so please get back to me with your thoughts.

Finally, this months dojo is currently scheduled for Tuesday 24th and I'm hoping we'll have a similar turnout to last month. The tentative topic is writing a bowling alley scoring system but I'm happy to take suggestions if anyone has anything in mind.

I really wish I could make one of these Dojo events, but it's hard to get to the city on a weekday. After the event would you mind posting the "problem of the day"? Would be great practice for those that cannot attend.

Hey guys, forgot this was still up here. Sorry for any confusion.

The Dojo we held last week was in place of this one because of the holidays. Starting next month we'll continue our regular schedule.

See you all on the 28'th.
