The Bay Area Clojure User Group Early/SF Monthly Meetup

Some of Clojure/core will be in the area for Clojure training - Stuart Halloway, Stuart Sierra, Luke VanderHart and Justin Gehtland - around the date of our September meeting and they have agreed to speak to our group.

Since their training course is in Mountain View, logistically it will be much easier for them if we hold our meeting down there (probably at Runa, depending on attendance?).

Since I'm traveling most of the next two weeks, I'm going to let Amit take lead on organizing this (thank you!).

Question to the group: would you prefer a talk on Datomic or on Clojure itself? Clojure/core are happy to do either.

I don't know if it is the best place to park, but if you don't mind walking a block or two there is the large parking garage in central downtown San Mateo, between 3rd and 4th streets, I think.

That's right, there's a bunch of parking in the downtown area, within 2-3 blocks of our office... street parking is also plenty, and most should be available after 5 PM.

Where's the best place to park? Presumably Runa has off-street parking?

So, I'm looking at starting a Redwood City offshoot of the "Coursera Machine Learning Study Group" (http://www.meetup.com/Silicon-V...) associated with the upcoming Coursera "Machine Learning" course run by Andrew Ng (https://www.coursera.org/course/...) and am hoping to do my exercises in Clojure, instead of MatLab/Octave (the course default). Anyone done this, or thinking of doing this? A presenter at the most recent SF Clojure meeting says he did...

The name of the presenter was Terje Norderhaug, maintainer of the MCLIDE project.

I'm wondering if any org-mode experts would be interested in sharing/exchanging practical knowledge during this meeting. I'm also interested in developing enhancements to org-mode/MobileOrg to include functionality of other information organisation applications and to integrate with other applications.

I'd prefer a talk on Clojure itself, rather than Datomic. Here are some topics (in no particular order) that I would find particularly interesting

    * Android application programming in Clojure
    * Using the new reducers library
    * New backends for Clojure (Clojure -> C looks interesting)
    * UI development using Seesaw or another such library

I have some other interests (like typed Clojure) but I don't know that the Clojure/core guys are interested in those.
