A few years ago I worked with an international education office at a large university, where I had the opportunity to enjoy many wonderful multicultural experiences. One of the visiting scholars was a West African drumming instructor who gave many performances on campus. I've seen other drumming performers including a Kyoto group and a Native American storyteller who used a drum in his stories.
I would like to A) get up the nerves to actually learn some West African dancing and B) learn more about recognizing the different rhythms heard from the drums.
I'm a long-time fan of West African, Middle Eastern and Japanese drumming. I have always enjoyed the music as an audience member, but would like to learn more about dancing to it, too.
