Global Meetup at SemTech 2010 with special guest Howard Rheingold

This year our global Semantic Web Meetup of all Semantic Web Meetup groups around the world will take place at the Semantic Technology Conference in San Francisco (SemTech 2010). Come and meet your peers to discuss all things Semantic Web, Web 3.0 and Linked Data to make the Web of Data a reality. It took more than 10 years to get the Semantic Web where it is today and we have good reason to believe that it's about time it will hit the mainstream web.

I was great to see Howard Rheingold, because I referred to his publications in my doctor thesis about virtual reality in the 90th. Although the Meetup was not interactive, it was interesting to see the international activities of Semantic Web Meetups.

I am encouraged by the SemTech because the idea of linked data becomes popular. I prefer a different approach to the semantic web standards, but the idea of linked data is essential and independent from technology. I hope, that more and more people outside of the semantic community will get the idea.

I would like to see a more open view and discussion beyond the semantic web technology stack in future, because I don't think that the approach of standardization and ontology modeling is really practicable for the industry.
