Meet other local people interested in the art and sport of fencing. Learn techniques and history. Work up a sweat, beat up on your friends and family, then shake hands and congratulate each other on touches well scored. All those interested in swordsmanship are welcome! Fencing also tends to attract a very interesting and fun set of people, so it's a great way to network.
This ongoing Beginner's Saturday class will be held at the DC Fencers Club in Silver Spring every Saturday that the club is not hosting a tournament. Start time 11am. Feel free to call me at 240 462 2161 if you have any questions.
$45 per person per session. All equipment is provided. The class will run for two hours and if you still want to spar afterwards, we can be flexible as the club is empty most Saturday morning.
This class also includes some basic armoring instruction.
10% discount on a pack of four: $162 per four two hour classes.
1/2 price discount for guests of people that RSVP (Up to two guests, one class).
Please arrive dressed for a workout: long athletic pants, athletic shoes, water bottle, ect... Running shoes are ok at first, but indoor court or tennis shoes are better.
Keep in mind that modern fencing is a full contact combat sport with a very good safety record, but by signing up here, you agree to release DCFC, it's members and it's staff from liability in case of injury. The worse I've seen is a twisted ankle and compared to soccer for example, fencing is a lot less injury-prone.
The core attendance of this class has grown to at least five regulars per session (that never RSVP, ;)... thank you everyone and spread the word about this unique sport!
