African Peoples Advocacy (APA) is planning to organise an African Diaspora New Year Lecture from January 2013 onwards. APA’s vision is to bring together outstanding members of the African Diaspora, partners and friends of Africa each January, so that they may exchange ideas on a specific theme and establish synergies throughout the year.


6.30 – 7.00 Arrival and registration

7.00– 7.05 Welcome remarks by Dr Ben Page (Lecturer, UCL) and Ms Sylvie Aboa-Bradwell(Director, African Peoples Advocacy)

7.05 – 7.10 Introduction of the event by the Chair, Mr Eric Chinje (Mo Ibrahim Foundation)7.10 – 7.20 Speech by Mr Sam Onigbanjo (CEO, Women4Africa)

7.20 – 7.30 Speech by MS Samara Hammond (CEO, AMREF UK)

7.30 – 7.40 Intervention by the Special Guest of Honour, Mr Sorious Samura (Filmmaker)

7.40 – 8.00    Keynote lecture by Ms Chantal Aboa (Writer, Pan-African Activist and Founder, African Peoples Advocacy)

8.00 – 8.30    Questions and answers, and suggestions for the way forward

8.30 – 9.00 Refreshments, Book Signing, Networking and Departure
