Open Gaming (with an option for meaty games if you are in the mood)

In like a lion, out like a lamb...

Let's play some meaty games to start March.  I'd love to play an 18XX game.  We could play a smaller game like 18AL or 18GA.  Or we could play some Steam train games.   Steam is great because there are different maps depending on the number of players and rules for a basic game and a standard game.
Here's a video overview of 18XX games by Board Games with Scott:

What's a meaty game? It's just more strategic than a typical, make your optimum move game.  You may have to think a few turns ahead.  It also may take longer to play.

Meaty games in my collection include:

Power Grid

Agricola
Caylus
Conquest of the Empire
Struggle of Empires
Princes of Florence
Eclipse

Goa
Age of Industry
Endeavor
Reef Encounter
Tigris and Euphrates
Dominant Species
Through the Ages

Bring your favorites.  Lighter games are fair game too.  Everyone doesn't have the time or inclination to play a longer game.  Sometimes I need a lighter game as a "palate cleaner" between the heavier games too.

Post what you'd like to play in the comments and we can refresh on the rules.

We'll have snacks and sodas and we love it when you bring some to share. Please park in our driveway or on our side of the street.  The address will be emailed to those who say they are coming to our location about four miles from the Tower Game store in Suwanee, about three miles from Suwanee Town Center.

Thanks John, Eva for another awesome meetup! I really enjoyed playing Steam although I was unable to finish the game. Who finally won?

You won. I came in second. You had the advantage of our collective decisions on what we thought was your optimum move. Jonathan found that the base cost is $1 for each open connection "off the tile" so we got off $1 too cheap on each placement. Next time money will be tighter. Good job.

I don't Cosmic Encounter and I've never played it. For some reason (March Madness maybe?, and some out of town trips) attendance is light this time. Maybe someone will bring it someday.

I would love to play Steam. I've never played but I have the game and have watched the video.
I can stay till about 6pm.

I have a ton of maps. We'll play the base game (not an auction for roles every turn) and you'll have plenty of time for a game before you have to leave.

Also, I'd love to learn to play Cosmic Encounter as well, if anyone likes the game(and if it doesn't take 2+ hours to play).

Would love to come but I have a prior commitment. Hope you all have a blast and I'm looking forward to the next time I can come learn/play games!
