Hello. As anyone who has attended events recently might have noticed, the limited space we have can get pretty over crowded sometimes. This can be unfortunate for reasons of comfort, (elbow room, stuffiness), or safety, (fire codes, insurance). The last one of which our strata council has made us more than aware of.
The sages at Meetup.com suggest charging members an attendance fee to combat this, but we do not wish to engage in such an imposition. Instead we are giving members the opportunity to join another Meetup group that will have additional events. For this membership we will be charging $50 per year. Each membership comes with the following:
We have not been in the position where we had to turn anyone away yet at any of the events. But with 600 plus members, this could become a reality. If it were, admission would be prioritized in the following order: paying members, regular members who have rsvp'd, then regular members who did not rsvp. Once again, we have decided upon this course of action to curtail such unpleasantries as turning people away at the door.
-to be clear, this is for board gaming events only, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. It is not required for Friday Night Magic or Sunday events.
