Re: [web-209] email, SPAM & AWS
I haven’t used DynDns for smtp, but I’ve used their other services, and they were pretty solid.  AuthSmtp is also pretty good, been using them for over a year now.  I think you’d be in good shape with either one  :)

so what's an alternative that will not take up to 6 months?! (Need this working next..)

You can’t setup a reliable relay from an AWS instance, at least not yet. ?While messages will get accepted by some mail relays, the major ones (Gmail, Hotmail/MS, Yahoo, etc.) are going to drop it outright (won’t even show up in the junk box).

You can get a dedicated relay server (really only necessary if you plan on serious volume), or you could look at a service like www.authsmtp.com <http://www.authsmtp.com> , which is pretty affordable, and will be universally accepted. ?Note that if you get a dedicated relay server, you still have to jump through a number of hoops to get your mail accepted, like setting up SPF, domainkeys, and getting ReturnPath certified. ?This can take upwards of 6+ months (mostly for returnpath), as you need to have a track record of good mail to get certified.

Hope this helps!

Hi All,
Quick question, we're about to roll out our new Drupal website on AWS and was wondering how do people deal with emailing out of that instance without being flagged as 'spam' (I heard / read that AWS IP addresses are 'marked').

More details: as part of the user registration on our website, we're sending an email out to the registrant with their account information etc..

Any pointers will be appreciated.

Regards,

Tsahy.
