13 Km hike around Mookerheide and Sint Jansberg

I am very pleased to announce that Aymen organized a hike for us again, nearby Nijmegen. more precise : -> nearby MOOK.

As usual we go there by car and share the costs of the fuel.

CARS In general it goes like this:

Most of the events that I organize we go by car. We share the costs of the fuel and we go with as less cars as possible. I do the coordination of the cars. From the most members I know who has a car and who not. So I see how many cars we will need and who can bring his/her car. In this way I can take care that there won't be too much or too less cars.

We always have the same formula to count what the costs of the fuel are, you can find it under Discussions -> message board -> policies

However if there not enough cars its also reachable by train.

From Eindhoven with the train: the train is departing at 11.18 from platform 5 direction 's-Hertogenbosch. Arrives there at 11.36 at platform 4a. Get of the train and go to platform 3a. Get in the train direction Nijmegen. This train departs at 11.41 and will be in Nijmegen at 12.14 platform 3b. Get of the train and go to platform 1b. Take the train (direction Venlo) departing at 12.38 and get of the train at Mook Molenhoek. that will be at 12.47. Go to the parking place of the staion were will be the starting point of our hike.

Tuesday 29 april I'll inform you all who goes by car, by train or will be directly at the startingpoint in Mook Molenhoek

Starting point for the hike : at the eastern side of Mookmolenhook station where we can park our cars .

Then stop after 4 km in Mookerheide, a protected natural area known for its nice landscapes and few animals like bizons etc (possible to have lunch there)

The area is also known as the battle field for the “Slag of Mookerheide” of 14 April 1574 between Dutch and Spanish.

Then 2 km after, arriving to Sint Jansberg where we can stop to see the structure of the biggest roman villa in the Netherlands, built 2000 years ago.

Sint Jansberg is also known for its hills, few mills and a few animals.

Then stop in Café Zwaantje, after 3 km. The Cafe is exactly on the border between Limburg and Gelderland provinces.

Here we shall have a drink together  ;)

Finally last 3 kms back to the station.

We will do this hike together with the Netherland Adventurers

The area was very nice and the company as well. Maybe the pause was too early and then we missed another one when we were more tired :)
