would anyone be interested in doing the spen valley heritage trail from Victoria park (west and south section, there is another section to the east but i will save that for another day) and part of route 66 back to the park.
meet in the car park in Victoria park, oakenshaw,
there is free parking in the small car park located above the bowling green at the top end of the park, between the end of the park wall and a tree you will see a little muck road.
there is a bus stop directly across the road from the car park (Oakenshaw, Cleckheaton Rd Frogmore Terrace SE-bound) you can get the bus from Bradford interchange stand M, service number 268, arriva bus service to dewsberry (approx 17 mins journey time)
we head out of the park and up green lane towards the spen valley heritage trail (west section), we follow the trail all the way down to scholes, we then join the kirklees way, then the Bronte way all the way down to roberttown, we then once again join the spen valley heritage trail (south section)
once more. this leads us to the sustrans route 66, we will have our lunch here beside the massive sculpture "rotate" by judi entwistle.
we then walk along route 66 back to Victoria park, along the route we will see "we follow the same flock" this is a sculpture by sally mathews (a collection of life size swaledale sheep made out of scrap metal)
and lots of other little sculptures including lots of benches made from old digger buckets.
there are also lots of old bridges/ tunnels to go over and under before arriving back in the park.
*26/06/13 just got my new map measurer device and on measuring the route i have upped the distance of the walk from 10 miles to 12.4
