Another short walk for us. 6 miles
In one of the more remote locations, a walk which offers widespread views, as well as interest close at hand.
Walk now checked on Saturday. The route starts and finishes at Ripponden. Firstly following the river before heading uphill to our first view of the magnificent reservoir. This is then followed by following field paths through farmland to reach Ryburn Reservoir.
A short break here, before continuing along the edge of the field boundary to then reach Baitings Reservoir.
Because of the distance and the time, I have chosen a route that takes us across the front of the reservoir enabling to see the wonderful valley below. A nice path takes us along the other side of the reservoir, where we then pick up a nice steady track back to town to finish.
Please note -
A majority of this route is pretty MUDDY. So please do not come in trainers and Jeans. You must wear a good sturdy pair of walking boots, gaiters and over-trousers.
Dogs are welcome, but owners must be aware that we go through a couple of farms on route to the reservoir and must be on a lead.
If you are coming by bus, there are plenty of services that come to Ripponden.
From Halifax - 531 and the 528. From Brighouse, either E7 or E8 service.
If you are coming to Ripponden via Sowerby Bridge along the A58 Halifax Road, there is a car park on Royd Lane.
Just before you hit the traffic lights and just after the surgery on your left. Turn right into Royd Lane. Immediately to your left is a pay and display car park.
Alternative parking is the side streets.
After the walk, there a couple of choices of pubs we can call in for a drink and chat. Both very swish and highly recommended.
We will leave no later than 12.15 pm, to enable us to do the walk and be back in time for approx 4.30 pm.
Please guys, take a note of my mobile number which you will find on my profile.
