A 12.5 mile walk starting from Barden bridge (Bolton Abbey) where we head into Bolton abbey estate park then head up out of the estate through the valley of desolation taking in Posforth Gill waterfall before climbing on towards Simon's seat then we head down the other side towards Skyreholme village where we can enjoy a stop at the local farmhouse cafe and then head towards Trollers Gill with some beautiful limestone scenery leading to a dried up rocky river bed with caves and shear rock faces. We eventually climb out and head down through Appletreewick where we can have a welcome drink before heading down to the river Wharfe and follow it back to Barden Bridge to maybe catch an ice cream. The walk is moderate as it there is a ranging climb and steep descent to and from Simons seat and a short climb out of Trollers Ghyll but in the main it is a pleasurable walk..I've taken 70 year olds and one with a bad knee and we all made it round...its a great walk:)
Hi thanks Peter, what a lovely day we actually had sunshine. The views were spectacular, the company fun, the water wet ! :)
July 9
Great walk Peter lucky with the weather, a very entertaining meander up Trollers Gill and good company throughout.

Woe we were so lucky with the weather and gave us great views..Posforth Gill waterfall was gushing. Sorry that Michele got wet but glad she dried off and got on with the walk what a trooper:) It seems nothing can stop us..rain or rivers :)
Ed what on earth happened to you..we were looking for you and you missed it all today which was a great shame
?

Sorry I missed the walk, hope I didn't cause a problem. Went up the wrong road, waited at the wrong bridge. No signal on mob phone. Walked on, asked some cyclists if this was the road to Barden Bridge, they said I was on the right road.
Anyway did find the bridge, & a group of runners said a group of about 7 walkers had left 5 or 10 mins earlier.
Sorry Michele.
On a positive note met a group of women in the car park and enjoyed a walk with them to Bolton Abby.
Hope you all had a good time.

Well I never if the forecast hasnt changed again now were liable to get some rain..we could get wet then..so..you pays your money and takes your choice guys:) The walk is still on.
July 7
I am not considering cancelling this walk as the weather prediction is cloudy but fair, so just the ground will be wet, the waterfall will be great So Michele there's your answer.

I agree, I absolutely enjoyed the reccy on this walk! Definitely one of my favorites too. Enjoy!
June 28
This walk for me is without doubt the best local walk anyone can lead as it takes in so much different scenery and terrain..woodland/fields/hill climbs ascents/climbing rocks/stoney walks/river bank walking/stunning low level and high level views/shear rock faces.. so you're always thinking on your feet and looking around you..and to top it all there's a cafe a pub and an ice cream van...its a must do walk!
June 27
