This walk is the 2nd anniversary walk of "The Bradford Ramblers"!!
The walks starts and finishes at the Devonshire Arms Hotel at Bolton Abbey. From the bus stop we make our way along a short section of Bridleway in the direction of Emsbay Railway Station, before turning right over stiles and fields to arrive at Hesketh Farm Park, a place where you can bring the family to learn about how a farm is run.
Heading across further fields we arrive at Hare Head, our lunch stop. It’s here where you get the magnificent views of the surrounding area.
After lunch, we head to Lower Barden Reservoir, which then takes us all the way to Barden Tower and later Barden Bridge.
We now arrive at the back end of the Bolton Abbey estate, to follow a nice route along the Strid. At the far end, the Pavilion awaits and of course the famous Bolton Abbey.
The final short stretch, will take us nicely back to the Devonshire Arms and if anybody wishes, there is a nice café just a few yards along the road.
The expected finishing time is going to co-incide with the bus back to Ilkey. As this is due at 4.16pm, we aim to finish at around 3.30pm.
The only option I can see is a pay and go car park at Bolton Abbey itself at £6 unless you are able find somewhere that's free
There will be a bus from Ilkey at 9.35am which runs every 2 hours to reach Grassington.
If you need to contact me on the mobile: 07969-020137.
If you are coming by car, the option is to leave it at Ilkey, then catch the bus to Bolton Abbey.
The price on the bus is now £3.80 return, which seems to be a lot cheaper if you came by car. If you have a pensioners pass, then it's free.
