East Morton in search of the Puddle Stone 8 miles

There are 5 Saturdays in March so Gareth is going to put on an extra walk for those of you who want to go a bit faster. It's a contrast to the slow-paced walk at the start of April.

Please don't sign up unless you're confident you can keep up.

I made Chrissy a promise that she would see all 6 of the stanzas stones, so far she has seen the one in Ogden, soon to see her second stone in Marsden, so this will be her third stone.

a nice 8 mile walk from the little village of east Morton to the puddle stone, then across some lovely moorland (Rombalds moor) down spa dike before we head  to the pub thats 2 mins walk from the start point of the walk (starting the walk from outside the school as the pub has asked us not to use the car park as they get busy on saturdays though they are more than happy for us all to pop in for a drink when the walk has finished.

recce done today 06/03/2014

please wear decent walking boots/shoes or wellies as its a bit damp underfoot in parts (unless we have blazing sunshine between now and the walk). only one slight accent at the very start of the walk as we head out of the village towards the moors.

I feel this magnetism coming from the Yorskshire neck of the woods that make me drive for miles just to walk with a fab bunch of people. I'm just hooked! Nothing I can do about it.

Hang about, we've advertised it as "fast" now! For those walkers who say they get fed up of too much pottering. What if they want their pound back? Maybe check with people tomorrow? I wasn't planning to check your speed on your GPS upload, oh no sir not me.

      March 28, 2014

    • Gareth Tips P.

As a group is the 8 mile an average distance you might arrange?

    March 23, 2014

    • Christine

No it's longer than our average. As a group we generally do more easy shorter walks than other local meetup groups.

dont go getting any crazy ideas that we are off in search for the 7th! lol :)

      March 6, 2014

  • Christine

Please look at Gareth's update in the walk description. This is a hard walk in comparison to our usual. It's at least as hard as the February Marsden walk and there's a lot of boggy areas. (Unless we get a drought for a few weeks).

The walk is an early start so there will be no issue with light but Gareth will be aiming for a faster pace than usual with this group especially if it is cold.

If it's a clear day you will be rewarded with some fantastic views. The photos will be ace.

  • Christine

Sorry Gareth, I have been fiddling with your capitals so I can "announce" it. When are we doing this recce then?

    February 25, 2014

    • Christine

Yes, if you change the spelling you lose the postcode so I'm going to sit on my hands and leave the wrong spelling up.

      February 25, 2014

    • Gareth Tips P.

sent you an e mail about the recce :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
