Usability practice closely resembles the traditional software development approach in its formality and insistence on up-front analysis and design. Usability and design are an iterative, but are not considered to be agile. So how can design and usability be effectively embedded into an agile development environment? In this presentation, the tension and the common values between Agile development and usability are explored with discussion about some simple techniques that can assist with combining usability with Agile for your next project.
Our speaker, Teale Shapcott, commenced her career in web development and graphic design in 1998. She is currently working within Suncorp’s Business Technology division as a Systems Analyst for internal and external web applications specialising in web standards, usability, accessibility, xHTML and CSS. Her primary focus in her current role is embedding usability practice into Agile web development within Suncorp.

As a pre-cursor to this presentation, I am interested to hear from other members what their challenges have been with implementing usability with their agile projects. Even if you have not experienced any challenges, it would be great to hear some success stories as well! I think it would be beneficial to discuss challenges & successes as I can incorporate this into the presentation for a really productive session for all.
Cheers,
Teale
