Hi there, I used to play various tabletop RPGs a few years ago, and I'm hoping to get back into a game. I began gaming in the early 90's, but haven't played for a few years. I'm especially interested in 2nd ed AD&D - esp Ravenloft and Dragonlance.
I am looking to join a group, but could be pursuaded to dust the cobwebs off and run a game. Ideally I'd like to find a group fairly close by - I'm based in Algester, so south of Brisbane (eg Mt Gravatt, Sunnybank, Coopers Plains, Acacia Ridge, anywhere around there) would be great. I work Mondays - Fridays, so weekends would be best (preferably every second weekend).
I've played only a smattering of 3rd ed, and not much after that. I've played a fair bit of 2nd ed, and particularly enjoy Dragonlance, Ravenloft, Darksun and Forgotten Realms (in close to that order). I'd be happy to try Greyhawk or Spelljammer as well, but I know very little about them. I've played a few other systems, including Shadowrun, Cyberpunk, Rifts, Warhammer, Vampire, Werewolf, and Exalted, but mostly previous editions. Oh, and a little Star Wars, of various editions. I've previously GMed Ravenloft and Shadowrun, some Aeon Trinity, and a smattering of Dragonlance, and HoL. I also remember fondly the good ol' days of the TSR golden box computer games.
Part? I'm not sure - I enjoy Ravenloft and Dragonlance the most out of the 2nd ed worlds, and I'm certainly most familiar and comfortable with the 2nd ed rules, and would enjoy visiting those worlds again. That said, I don't mind exploring new games/worlds I also enjoy breathing life into a new character, and building worlds in general.
I've been playing on and off for about 20 years, but don't really consider myself a pro. I'm not up to date on the current rules, but am pretty familiar with 2nd ed, and a bit of 1st and 3rd.
The Meetup Group is serving its purpose well, and I hope that this is the first game of many.
