Cotswold Way Loop north of Old Sodbury

A 9 mile walk through rural countryside with NO FACILITIES! You'll need to bring lunch and drinks. It is likely to be wet and muddy in places so bring waterproof boots (and gaiters if possible). Bring something waterproof to sit on for lunch.

The walk follows Jubilee Way to Sodbury Common, then heads north to Hawkesbury Common. After lunch we climb 100m (300ft) up to the Cotswold Way and follow this south. There are some fantastic views. We'll pass a 16th C manor house and two iron age hill forts.

This is a much more challenging walk than the recent walks done by this group, so be prepared!

I will cancel the night before if the weather looks very bad. Check the website if in doubt.

Great walk. Strenuous enough to feel
Like a hike, relaxed enough for a Sunday! And sun too. Thanks, Phil.

As there is one person waiting I hope you wont mind if I drop out. I was not concentrating and have just realised how far away this is from my home.

I am interested in this walk. I don't understand that there are 'no spots' left - do you limit numbers on walks for a reason? Lilamayi

    March 16, 2013

    • Phil C.

Hi, I chose to limit numbers on this walk as I am leading it alone, the group is likely to be of mixed walking speed, and this walk is more challenging than many done by this group. There is a risk that a large group would get very spread out, making it difficult to lead. I really don't want to loose anyone!!!I've emailed everyone who RSVP'd yes, asking them to update their status if they are not comming. So some more slots may open up. Hope you understand

Sorry Phil I don't think I will be able to push my body and cognitive mind that far. As I will try to limit it till 6 miles.

As long as the husb agrees to look after the small ones and swap me this walk for the mountainbike ride he wants to go on, I'm in!

    can dog come?

    March 10, 2013

OK provided that you take responsibility for it not annoying other walkers or farm animals, and you don't let it get lost! (There weren't any farm animals when I did this walk a week ago)

Is this a circular walk, with the same start and end point? Thanks
