Walks

Hi all, we seem to have a Quorum for this outdoor adventure...and I have just worked out how to add more info...use a PC not an IPad!

The Sugar Loaf is an iconic mountain-in-miniature, with the additional joy of fantastic views from the Brecons down to the Severn, and easy walking paths all around.

This is a satisfying but fairly easy walk of about 6 miles through some woodland but mainly on open ground, with just one steep pull up to the summit.

Abergavenny is best reached by taking the M4 to Newport then the A449 to Raglan and the A40 to Abergavenny.  The car park and tourist office is unmissable (!) just as you come into the town centre.  Meet at 10.30 at the entrance to the tourist centre, and we'll pile into as few cars as possible, as the car park we are heading for is pretty small.

If we walk fast enough, we could get back in time to reward ourselves with an award-winning cream tea at the Angel Hotel :-)

I can take 2 other folk from Bristol if you message me.

Hi Claudine, I would be up for doing more walks especially now that the weather is picking up. If you set up a walk event on here as we have done in the past I'm sure many will attend. The last walks we took part in we're sugar loaf and some of the Brecon Beacons so somewhere different would be fab :) look forward to any walking events you organise, Jen x

Not a hangover, Hilary: the dancing was yet more exercise. That was the point. But I was jesting. Actually I'd be up for a rather longer walk.

I think you mean VHF, Olcay. VHS being an outmoded form of video recording equipment. No mascara - it would run into my eyes worse than sun cream. You'll have to put up with me as I am. Dark glasses may help.

Yes you are right Roger :)

Straight home and straight into a party in our village hall....
I had to go. It is right behind my house. So I wouldn't have slept anyway. Now I am a wreck and a ruin. Easy walks from now on for me Hilary.

It would be good to reduce the number of cars going by giving lifts and also share the cost of petrol.

Meet at Tourist Info Centre, Abergavenny. Anyone need a lift or able to offer a lift from Bristol, suggest we meet 9am at Sainsburys Filton Car Park, or leave a message here.

Hi, I am new. I would be interested in walks that I can get to.

    June 2, 2013

  • Harjinder R.

Thats great ! We would all contribute to petrol. On the 22 june I'm doing some Wild Camping there with the chippenham mountaineering club. 6th july is good. I have only done pen y fan the highest one, it took about 2.5 hours. I am not experienced in leading so would allow more experienced person to lead but I can read a map and could try.
