Aviary, Big Spaceship and RTcmix!

Hi all,

We are so excited for our last presenter event of 2013!*

Join us at Big Spaceship for an evening of SDK explorations, iOS7 adaptations, and an open-source audio resource!

See you there :)

iRTcmix with Damon Holzborn

Equal parts composer and creative technologist, Damon created iRTcmix to easily incorporate interactive sound into iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch apps. The RTcmix open-source digital signal processing and sound synthesis language is useful for creating music apps, sound effects for games, and other applications that need dynamic, interactive sound--because it greatly simplifies the process of adding audio to iOS apps. Start making noise with just a few lines of code!

Refactoring Your Apps for iOS7 with Michael Vitrano of Aviary

Michael is a developer at Aviary, where he builds out "Photo Editor by Aviary" for iOS, a 5-star and top 10 app in the Apple App Store.

Apple’s long awaited iOS7 update comes with an interface overhaul and introduces a ton of new features. It also presents a unique opportunity to rethink how your application is structured and to take advantage of new API’s and platform features. Hear about how the team at Aviary handled the transition of their Photo Editor SDK (which powers over 5000 applications reaching 65 million users), and standalone app (Photo Editor by Aviary, which has retained its spot in the top 5 Photo & Video apps since it launched last year).

Visualizing American History with iOS 7 with Benjamin Bojko of Big Spaceship

Big Spaceship has been brewing a new iPad app behind the curtains for the past few months. Taking a deep dive through major themes in American history, it visualizes patterns and collisions of moments in time.

Built exclusively for iOS 7, the app was equally daunting and thrilling to develop. Benjamin Bojko gives a sneak peek of the SpriteKit powered interface and discusses the challenges the team faced while creating an app in the uncharted territory of an exciting new SDK.

*stay tuned for a special December event announcement...

Interesting talks all around! Good stuff on modularity, thin VCs, SpriteKit. iRTcmix seems like a perfect weekend project to experiment with some generative audio on iOS and a good thing to put on the toolbelt along side other launching points like libPD, STK, and The Amazing Audio Engine. Thanks Michael, Damon, Benjamin, and of course Jeff and Allegra. Also, apple sauce.

If you can't make it to Big Spaceship tonight but would still like to hangout with fellow iOS developer - please join us at Rebar afterwards for a drink. We should be there 8:15pm or so.
