Let's get knitting!

For our initial meetup, I'd like to get together and decide with other members what form we'd like to see the meetings take. I'm hoping to gather knitters with all levels of experience who are willing to share their knowledge and time with one another. I'd like to find some experienced knitters who are willing to help beginners (like me) by giving short workshops, so if you're interested in doing such a thing, please be in touch with me. Anything you'd like to talk about that's knitting related will be considered!

Hey everyone, I don't think anyone is coming tonight so let's reconvene after Christmas!

    December 17

    • Sadie

Ack! It's Wednesday! I'm out if practice and I forgot. I think the wed after Christmas is NYE--should we plan for the one after that?

      December 17

    • Meghan Cecilia B.

Yes, the one after NYE!!! Thank you Sadie! I wasn't looking at a calendar.

We have decided not to meet tomorrow, due to the holiday and the weather. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Hey, has anyone seen ad this yet? Not only does the app look helpful, but if you've been to Knitwit in Portland, it's extra fun to watch the video: http://vimeo.com/109696514

Sorry I missed again. I really want to come. Had a once a year dinner to go to. Will try again next week. Currently working on socks. I can help with your knitting if I can just get there.

Shirley, no pressure, just come when you can, someone is always there! :)

I"m so sorry you guys! I fell asleep and it was nearly 8pm when I woke up. Early evening naps NEVER work out. lol How did it go tonight? It sounds like Shirley and I are going to be there next week!

    Looking forward to it!

I did not get the location so missed the meet at Panera. This week I have to go to a zoning meeting. I will work at coming the following week. I really want to participate. What do I need to bring?

    September 17

    • Meghan Cecilia B.

Just bring whatever project(s) you want to work on or show and tell! I look forward to meet you next week! :)

      September 17

  • Pamala

Great! Thanks for understanding! Was there a big turn out?

    September 13

    • Meghan Cecilia B.

There were four of us, which I thought was perfect for the first time! This way I remember everyone's name and we had a couple people approach us who might be interested in joining the group!

So I've started a new sweater for myself using yarn from a sweater I finished last year and frogged to reuse the yarn. This pattern is much better! Looking forward to Wednesday :)

I wanted to ask if it would be okay if we crochet instead of knit? I bought knitting needles and I'm having such a hard time with coordination! lol

    1 · September 9

    • Becky H.

Pamala, of course, come next week and crochet if you'd like, you're more than welcome!

We had a great meetup tonight! Thanks, ladies--it was great meeting you all, and I'm looking forward to delving further into the knitting madness with you! We've decided to make our meetups weekly, a standing knitting gathering every Wednesday at Panera Bread from 7pm - 9pm. Come if you're able and interested! And of course it's ok if you want to come and crochet!

Looking forward to the 10th! I am envisioning someplace that has comfortable seating, like a coffee shop? Not sure how late coffee shops stay open, but there is Starbucks at Cooks Corner or the Bohemian one in Hannaford parking lot on Brunswick's Maine Street.

I definitely want to do our meetups somewhere comfortable and quiet(ish), but for first meetup, I picked Panera- we can discuss future locations on Wed. :)

Sounds perfect! See you at 7 tomorrow!

      September 9

  • Sadie

Just wanted to check in to see if a location had been decided....

    September 8

    • Becky H.

Would you let me know if you got the email about Wednesday's meeting? I just want to make sure it went out! :) Thanks!

      September 8

    • Sadie

      Got it! See you tomorrow

      1 · September 9

  • Becky H.

We could also do Panera Bread in Topsham...?

    1 · September 4

  • Pamala

Depending on the time, Tim Horton's in Topsham? I'm pretty new to the area but that comes to mind.

    1 · September 4

  • Sadie

I'm going to try to make it after putting the baby to bed, might be a bit late, but I'm looking forward to it! I've been knitting for over 10 years, so although I don't want to volunteer to officially teach anything, I can probably help out if people have questions!

    1 · September 3

    • Becky H.

Thanks for joining, Sadie! There's no pressure to do workshops or anything--the idea of this group for now is just to meet other knitters, talk about current projects, and maybe find help with learning something that another member might know how to do.

      September 4

  • Pamala

Will the meetings be in Brunswick or Topsham?

    September 2

    • Tara (aka yarn n.

I would suggest a more public spot for the first meeting or so (like a coffee shop or something). It may be less intimidating for folks (until we get to know each other). Just a thought.

      2 · September 3

    • Becky H.

Ok! That works for me, too. I'm going to try and come up with some places that are open that might work--any suggestions are welcomed!

      September 4

  • Shirley C.

I'd be glad to teach and help others as well as charity work.

    2 · September 2

    • Becky H.

Shirley, that's great--we need someone with some knowledge to help all of us wannabe knitters! :) What kinds of things would you consider teaching?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
