Buddhist Meditation and Study Group

The Tuesday meeting will be focused mostly on the practice itself, rather than on Buddhist philosophy, and will include the opportunity to share with others the difficulties and challenges encountered in the process of spiritual growth. Donna Hobbs, a member of the sangha who has many years of meditation practice and is a longtime student of Thich Nhat Hanh, will lead the group

It's okay to come just for the talk, the meditation, the popcorn, etc.

Singing meditation 5:00-5:30

Popcorn and fellowship 5:30-6:00

Talk and group discussion: 6:00-6:50 P.M.

Break: 6:50-7:00

Zazen (Meditation) 7:00-7:30

Service (Chanting and bowing) 7:30-7:45

Meditation instructions: Sit up straight, put your hands comfortably in your lap or on your knees, and focus your mind on your in and out breath. If you wish, count each in/out combination up to 10 and then start over. Any variation that keeps your attention in the present will do. When you realize you are thinking about something, let the thought go and return to the present.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
