Its time for our next open meeting of the Alamance Makers Guild!
The special topic for this meeting will be an introduction to the Arduino Micro Controller by AMG Member Danny Oakley. Arduino is an entire microcomputer on a chip that is designed to be easy to use (both electrically and from a programming perspective). This demonstration will be kept open and interesting for non-electronics/non-programmer folks but should also be interesting to anyone who has more advanced knowledge. Arduino is inexpensive and is a great platform for robotics, automation, or creating interactive art projects. There are even forms of the Arduino that can be sewn into garments to control light shows!
Danny will be giving an overview of what it is, where it came from, how it can be used, and what you need to know to get started. If enough folks are interested we'll schedule special more focused training sessions in the future.
Also on the agenda:
* Dinner (for those who wish to join us for $5 or more if we switch the dinner menu)... possibly MiMi's Pizza as always, possibly subs catered from Mike's Deli... vote in the comments or in your meetup responses!
* Quick Update on the status of various group projects (Burlington Mini Maker Faire 2014, Maker Space Progress, Teen Chapter of the AMG)
* Show-n-Tell... your chance to bring in YOUR projects (completed or in progress)
This meeting is open to all, and new members and curious passerby's are welcome and encouraged! Family Friendly as always. We encourage our new teen members and their families to also attend if available.
Help us spread the word, share info about this meeting to your friends and through social media!
