We're pleased that "Game Over: Comics, Cards, Collectibles, and Gaming" of Burlington will be hosting the January meeting of the Alamance Makers Guild! Game over is new to the area and is helping to spread the culture of comics and gaming to Alamance County. A safe place for youth to congregate!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Our January AMG meeting will be at a different time and place than normal! Also we won't have dinner at this meeting as normal so please eat on your own prior to coming or make other plans! (Game Over does have some snacks and drinks though, buy one to support them!)
For our January meeting Ben will be giving a (hopefully) entertaining talk about the Oscilloscope... what is it? how do you use one? and even some history (featuring his dad's 1950's Heathkit Oscilloscope) as well as more modern models. You don't have to be an electrical engineer or even care about electronics to get something fun out of his talk! (if you own an oscilloscope feel free to bring it!) All terms will be explained... if Ben can understand it we know you will! He'll demonstrate the use of an oscilloscope and will even take a couple apart so you can see what is inside.
Also on the agenda:
* Show and Tell... Bring YOUR projects (completed, in progress, etc) for show and tell!
* AMG News in a Nutshell (quick updates on AMG and Maker Faire related news)
* Socializing: Meet with your fellow makers
* Call for Makers Open for the 2014 Burlington Mini Maker Faire (sign up to get space for your project or exhibit!)
As always AMG meetings are open to the public, free, and folks of all ages are welcome (we do ask that younger children be supervised by a parent or guardian) Members of the Youth Chapter of the AMG are highly encouraged to attend this meeting! New folks, followers, and first time meeting goers are also invited!
Help the AMG grow by telling your friends about our meetings. Share the link to the meeting on meetup.com or on facebook!
A quick note about parking: Game Over has limited parking in front of their store which should stay reserved for customers and members of the adjoining Bushido Judo school. Please park in legal spaces along the street, around the block, and in the nearby parking lots that should be available after 7:00. Please arrive early or on time at 7:00 so we can begin on time, we need to finish by 9:00pm.
Thanks to Sensei Darian Stokes for hosting us at Game Over for this meeting!
Looking forward to seeing as many of you at this meeting as possible!
