Recipes & Ingredients
Each adult is asked to bring a totally organic raw vegan dish prepared at home
Bring two copies of your recipe with the complete list of ingredients including measurements. You may want to bring a camera to take photos of recipes that you particularly like.
If you need some suggestions or advice about preparing a raw vegan dish, please ask or check out:
SimplyRaw Recipes Section
The local libraries also have a good selection of books on preparing raw/living foods.
Alternatively, you can Google raw food recipes. You'll get more than 8 millions hits!
Each adult should bring a home prepared raw food dish (not a bowl of fruit or drinks) of 20 small portions.
Dishes should be 100% organic, raw and vegan:
Fresh fruit & veggies, soaked/sprouted nuts, seeds, legumes, grains
NO animal products (no meat, dairy, fish, eggs, or honey)
NO cooking at all (nothing steamed, baked, fried, canned, boxed, etc)
Dehydrated food below 115 degrees Fahrenheit is acceptable
NO tofu or soy-derived products (cooked & highly processed including tofu, tamari, soyu, and Braggs Aminos)
NO commercial salad dressings (highly processed & cooked)
Please use Silver Leaf olive oil if olive oil is called for in a recipe. Read the article published at http://www.newyorker.... to find out why this is important.
Use coconut nectar as a sweetener if one is called for. Do not use agave or honey.
All fruits & vegetables should be properly washed at home & ready to be enjoyed as is. Fruit should be ripe & ready to eat.
If you're new to raw food or can't prepare a raw food dish for some reason, you may want to arrange with the organizer of the event to pay someone else to make your dish for you.
Please be conservative with your portions so everyone can try a good variety of food (there's usually plenty of food for seconds!)
You need to bring your own soup bowl, dinner plate, dessert plate, cutlery, a glass, utensils,a napkin and a container in which to take home any left-overs.
There will be a sink for members to wash their plates in after dinner.
Please avoid third-hand smoke and the use of perfumes and scented products for those with chemical sensitivities.
