Large, Slow-Moving Imbecile

Hi Writers,

And again, on October 24th, 2012 at 6:30 at Levity.

This is the last meeting before NaNoWriMo begins. That's National Novel Writing Month! Anyone planning on participating this year? http://www.nanowrimo.org/

No meeting on Halloween, unless you absolutely insist I schedule one.

Thanks,

Peter

I didn't read the email notice that my status had changed from waiting list to attending til it was/is too late. However, my critiques on this week's 2 pieces will be ready, either by next week's meeting or sooner, online.

On my pieces, I forgot to mention that I welcome and encourage total nitpicky-ness - down to single words even. "Big picture" feedback is great too. Thanks and see you all tomorrow!

Looking at the files, I see "Poems for the 10/24 Meeting" but nothing titled "Large, Slow-Moving Imbecile."

I want to read the right stuff, and be ready for discussion on Wednesday (My first meeting! Yeah!)

Is there anything besides the poems to read? Do we make comments somewhere ahead of time, or save our input for the Wednesday discussion?

I was wondering - is there a way to get notified as soon as the new meetings are posted? I seem to have some rotten luck getting to the RSVP on-time. Also - given my present work schedule and some other commitments I've taken on, the next couple weeks will be tough - but I'm looking forward to being a weekly active member come mid-November! One other question - I looked at Peter's post about changing the time. I would hate to see the time switch to the noon options - but I was wondering, whether or not we met Tuesday or Wed or whenever, could we move the time up from 6:30 to 7? No big deal, just wondering if others might be interested. I look forward to seeing you guys again in a couple weeks.

And finally (sorry to bombard you with notes), I tend to start at 6:30 because Levity has business to do at 8PM, and I want to make sure we're out of their way (or at least done with the meat of our discussions) by then. If we can find another venue that would allow us to stay later without interruption, I would be happy to consider 7.

Understood - sorry for the confusion - I forgot about Levity's business needs.

I too harbor fantasies of NaNoWriMo. I'm supposed to present my work Nov. 7....currently wondering whether a novel outline and character sketches would work for that meeting?? I know we prefer as a group to read essays/stories/actual novel excerpts. What do you think? Can we get a special NaNoWriMo dispensation?

NaNoWriMo was a great kick in the pants for me! This will be my third year. It really gives a writer a good idea of exactly how much writing time it will take to complete a novel. Also, just the idea of finishing a novel, for better or for worse, is a great thing.

I wish I could. That sounds like fun. Maybe if I can learn everything about medicine by November, I'll join. Good luck to you guys who are doing it! Can't wait to read the results!

Yes! I'm really looking forward to meeting the group. My first release ever, a short in an anthology, will be out on the 30th. And yes, I'm doing NaNoWriMo for the 3rd year! I'm USNessie there, and US_Nessie on twitter.

Now... where do I find the story I need to read before the 24th?

Hi AmyBeth. Those stories (or poems) will be available on the Sunday before the meeting in the "Files" section, which you can find under the "More" tab. Thanks! Looking forward to meeting you. --Peter

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
