There is one spot left for tomorrow's meeting. Will someone claim it?
Also, we have only one thing to discuss tomorrow, and that's Lit's piece. We discussed "Here Lies Donna" last week.
New Members: Please print Lit's story, make notes in the margins, write more comprehensive notes that respond to the bigger ideas in the piece, and be prepared to discuss it!
One thing we may want to discuss at the meeting: In talking with a few members, I've found that it's worth considering whether to break into two sections, given the size of the group. Perhaps we'd have a Wednesday night AND a Tuesday or a Thursday section. The downside, in my view, is obvious: I like hanging out with all of you, and I suspect some of you feel the same way, so to divide into factions is to break a really nice ritual we have here.
The upside, though, is that two sections would us better as writers: A smaller group means we're able to submit our writing more often. Submitting once every 4 or 5 weeks is more rigorous than submitting every 8 or 9.
Anyway, it's just a thought. We can discuss Wednesday evening.
In any event, it won't happen until after the summer. Which is mercifully headed our way!
