Thought you might like to see, maybe
share, this article -- the short form is that, just because
studies keep showing that religious faith is good for mental
health, that doesn't mean that skepticism is *not*. In fact,
this is a new area of research and what are finding is that
religious belief and a clear position on atheism are both good
for mental health -- it's the undecideds who don't get the
health bennies.

A lot of the relationship between religiosity and mental health could probably be acounted for by social integration. Membership in solidary groups makes a big difference.

Social solidarity, oddly enough, is also related to dogmatism. Perhaps this is why:

"Those in the middle, the lukewarm believers, were most likely to be depressed. In 2005, a team at Newcastle University in Britain reported a similar result."

Those in between spiritually may be in between socially.
