Details are still being sorted out, but we're planning a viewing session on the Monday night of the Perseid meteor shower peak.
***There's a small possibility that this event won't happen, due to issues at the Park, but right now it looks like a "GO"***
There is a fee to attend, $5, and your attendance MUST be booked through the Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park office at[masked] or via email: [masked]

RSVPing through Meetup is not sufficient.
There will be an indoor presentation on meteors and meteor showers during the early part of the event, perhaps repeated if necessary. There will be some telescope viewing as well, but meteor showers are best seen with no optical aid at all because we want the widest possible view of the skies.
Meteor showers are relaxed events and if we are lucky we will see a meteor once every 2 to 5 minutes. Do not expect a 'deluge'!
Dress warmly, as meteor shower watching is not exactly an aerobic activity. This means heavy socks, boots and a hat/toque. If you have a reclining outdoor chair, like a 'zero-gravity' model, please bring it if you can. Otherwise an old blanket on the ground will work. Binoculars will let you experience some of the brighter wonders of the night sky, so pack some as well.
