Saturday September 28
8pm to 11pm
Join for a unique perspective of the sky night with world-renowned astrophotographer, Alan Dyer http://amazingsky.net/ Alan takes the opportunity as often as possible to visit the southern hemisphere to pursue both observing and photography under southern skies. His other obsession, eclipse chasing, has taken him to every continent, chalking up 15 total solar eclipses. Throughout his travels he has captured incredible images and will share them along with his experiences with astronomy in the southern hemisphere.
In the sky – The mighty Hercules will be directly overhead.
The RAO’s observing terrace features an array of telescopes operated by University of Calgary astronomers and by members of the Royal Astronomical Society. Telescopes will be operating and astronomers will be on hand to answer questions. We will kick off the evening with a presentation on what’s up the sky.
No need to pre-register
Entrance Fee: $20 per car OR $10 per person, all proceeds to Rothney Astrophysical Observatory educational programming
