Larry McNish of the RASC Calgary Centre captured the recently announced supernova discovery near M95.

Larry says, "It is a single 5 minute DSLR exposure through a 14" telescope, heavily processed to bring up detail, and shows the thin clouds that were obscuring it being lit up by the bright planet Mars which was less than one degree away. However, it should be observable visually through a medium sized scope now, and is expected to get brighter over the coming days."
