Custom Post Types

Posts and pages are the post types that Wordpress comes with on a default installation. For this meetup, we are going to talk about custom post types. These are the elements that let you intelligently enter data about your team members, products on your site, recipes, etc.

Once we've created a couple of custom post types using my favourite plugins, then I'll go over the idea of taxonomies (Note: this page has a popup), and we will even create a few taxonomies that can be created with my favourite plugins.

If we have tonnes of time, I'll talk about taxonomy types that are difficult to create and what I'd do to create them.

As usual, the meetup will be downstairs at Melrose.

Please try to arrive by 6:00 pm. You'll be able to mingle with the group for a little bit before we officially get going at 6:15.

Doug McLean has been a web developer since 1999. He currently works as a project manager for Siteline Solutions.
