September Cambridge Semantic Web Meetup

A former member
Hi everyone,

We'll be meeting for our September Cambridge Semantic Web Meetup this coming Tuesday, September 14. We have two excellent presentations lined up:

* Mohan Bavirisetty, VP of BPM On Demand, will talk about Semantic BPM and SOA:

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and its most visible implementation facet Business Process Management (BPM) have made significant contribution to re-engineering and modernizing IT into more responsive and flexible business asset. In this presentation I will focus on How Semantic SOA and Semantic BPM can extend the envelop and business benefits further.

* Tom Morris will speak about Freebase. Tom is the top external contributor to Freebase, having contributed more than 1.4 million facts.

Freebase is a linked dataset, a web site, a graph database, and a community. The database contains 330 million facts about 12.5 million concepts. The talk will give a brief overview of this recent Google acquisition and then focus on the technical and social aspects of Freebase which are different from other linked data efforts such as its blend of human and machine curation, the collaborative
schema/ontology development process, the MQL query language, and its hosted environment for developing "data games."
