CLUG talk on Make

Date: 8 April 2014
Topic: Automated document generation with make
Speaker: Adrianna Pińska
Time: 18:30
Venue: UCT Chemical Engineering Basement

You may know GNU make only as an ancient tool used to compile C code — but it can also be used as a general-purpose functional shell scripting language which is particularly suited to the automated generation of documents across multiple formats.

I will demonstrate how make and various automated tools such as LaTeXpandoc and PDFjamcan be used to transform a document collaboratively edited on a wiki into a collection of typeset PDFs or EPUBs pretty enough to share with other people.
