You may know GNU make only as an ancient tool used to compile C code — but it can also be used as a general-purpose functional shell scripting language which is particularly suited to the automated generation of documents across multiple formats.
I will demonstrate how make and various automated tools such as LaTeX, pandoc and PDFjamcan be used to transform a document collaboratively edited on a wiki into a collection of typeset PDFs or EPUBs pretty enough to share with other people.
