Ken, I "second" Gina's and Holly's comments. . . thank you so much for doing this, and I agree wholeheartedly with your request not to visit Mitch for now.  I know this whole thing is very stressful, and I appreciate all you're doing!

Hi all-I have heard from Sunita who had already instructed the ICU that there are to be no visitors without her consent. So, I don't know how Danny got in. It is possible to sneak in, unfortunately. But, if Danny visits, what's to stop the several hundred people in our group (and other groups that he is in) from visiting? It may be that, if Mitch could talk, he would identify certain people whom he would want to visit among those hundreds, but I have no idea which ones.

Mitch not only can't talk, his dignity is highly compromised (I won't go into details but you can imagine from either being in ICU's or TV shows). In my experience in hospitals, people generally severely limit their visitors for various reasons, including their appearance. Moreover, since Mitch can't talk and doesn't know you are there, how is it helpful TO HIM that you visit? As soon as Mitch is alert, I will ask him about visitors and let you know.

I really have a lot on my plate and don't want to send another email like this. I already feel uncomfortable in this role and even more so when I have to limit others (which is not my personality). I truly apologize to anyone who feels offended. I hope you can understand, agree, and NOT VISIT Mitch.

BTW, if anyone would like to take on this role, please let me know and I will run it by Sunita. Also, she has requested that no one call her. If you would like, feel free to call me. Take care, Ken

Danny -- thank -you for being such a loyal friend to Mitch.

Ken-- thank-you for working hard to protect Mitch's privacy and to keep us informed.  A tough balance.

Mitch has wonderful friends in both of you. I am grateful that he has you both.

Danny-  I'm very fond of you and don't mean this personally. I know how much you care about Mitch and how close the two of you are.

I have asked that no one visit him and the staff at the ICU should not have let you in. I'm also concerned about your posting medical info about Mitch, which you did not get from his doctors since they only speak to his girlfriend (they specifically refused to share info with me until and if I'm appointed conservator) and which can be very misleading to the group. Mitch has not been in an induced coma for almost 2 weeks and his "sleeping on his own" is medically meaningless. He remains highly sedated on medications, on a ventilator, with a tracheotomy, and non-communicative. This has not changed and does not indicate improvement.

I strongly request once again that no one visit Mitch. I am asking Sunita to reinforce this to the ICU staff. If you visit and are allowed in by mistake, please contact me before posting any medical information or your interpretation thereof. I have no other way to control information and will stop informing the group if I don't get this cooperation. This may sound harsh, but I am very concerned about both Mitch's privacy and making sure that the information, which is shared, is both accurate and helpful. Ken

Went to see Mitch today, and there was more good news. I was told that he was sleeping on his own and is out of the induced coma. Coupled with  Ken's news this is the best we have heard since everything happened. Heaven watch over him.
