Global Warming Presentation

Dave, from Ridin The Wave, has worked to put together a World Class Event for the We Surround Them/912 Project and all interested citizens.

The Global Warming controversy is now at our doorstep. The ultimate question: Is it real, or is it a hoax?

The show will feature a presentation by world renowned Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Climate Researcher, Professor Jason E. Box of the Byrd Polar Research Center and Dr. Robert Wagner, also known as the Internet Skeptic. Local celebrities and/or politicians may also be included as details emerge.

This event is open to the public and is free, but requires your immediate RSVP as we expect above capacity response.

Venue location is Martini Park at The Easton Mall.

Hey Pam and Dave, the below comment in the description may be driving away people. I would just make it open to the public, and we will worry about the riff raff is they/he/it shows up. I found out about this from a friend that was concerned about the wording.

"This will be a private invitation only event, which is free, but requires your immediate RSVP as we expect above capacity response. "

Hey guys, I've had two people comment to me about this statement:

"This will be a private invitation only event, which is free, but requires your immediate RSVP as we expect above capacity response."

It may be better to word it that your RSVP would be appreciated to assist in our planning and hosting

By the time we found the Martini Park restaurant, we couldn't find a place to park that was within walking distance for me so we ended up coming back home after driving all the way to Easton from Plain City. We were very disappointed. Anyone who is not VERY familiar with Easton (and we are not) would not have a clue how to get to this restaurant. We map quested it and still only found it by dumb luck. The parking lot across the street was full so we just had to leave. I hope in the future that events could be planned just about anywhere but Easton. Its very congested and very hard to get around in if you are not accustomed to it. I ended up catching the last 45 minutes of the ustream show from home.

We had someone count the people and there were over 100 there. Dr Box did a great job, and the event was entertaining and educational. Dr Box's blog and he is claiming victory: http://www.... I'll wait for the video and let the people decide. Also, if you know anyone that has pictures or video of the event, please have them e-mail me @ [masked] Also, if interested, you can download the presentation and get the answers to the quiz here: http://www.... You can also post your thoughts and record your vote for the winner here: http://www.... What did you get on the Global Warming Exam? http://www.... I hope everyone enjoyed the event: http://www.... Also, if you know anyone that attended this event, please forward this on to them and encourage them to vote the who won poll.

Dave from Powell did great job moderating. Only a few people got a little excited & tried to shout out an opinion or question when Jason was presenting the pro-global warming view, & Dave stopped that right away refering to the respect we should have for their time to speak. I came away w/more info than I went in with. The only minor complaints: 1) start time was 2:00, but things didnt get going until about 3:00, 2) Martini Park was a very nice place, but pricey, 3) It would have been great to have a person w/a mike go into the crowd & allow 2 questions each. We wrote down questions, but Dave didnt get to many of them. Regarding the scientist Jason, I have great respect for him to have the fortitude to come to the debate knowing most did not agree w/his position. Al Gore wont do it-HA! Thanks to everyone for setting up the debate-Andy

the presentations were very well done. However the delay in getting started caused us to leave a little early due to other committments. Didn't get to stay for the debate portion which would have been very interesting.

Professor Box confidently regurgitated data used by all proponents of the Man-Made Golbal Warming debate. Linking C02 to earths temperature as if the two are joined at the hip! Professor Box also made the "Bold" statement we need to step back from political partisan and try better to understand the True-Science behind his data. This statement was made just prior to calling Dr. Wagner's research Pseudo-Science and meaningless! He went on to say that anyone with internet access can find results they are seeking; even proof of space aliens. Professor Box ended his presentation with a collage of "Political" statements made by various politicians; he hyped Solar, Wind and other alternative energies! So much for keeping politics out of the discussion. Dr. Wagner's presentation was filled with compelling evidence challenging "Man-Made" Global Warming data. He didn't name-call or voice a political opinion. Simply provided facts and allowed the group to form their own conclusion.

The presentations and the debate were good. Only negative was that it started an hour late.

I was impressed with how well both sides were presenting their sides of this inportant issue. Bottom line: there was quite a bit of agreement betweent these two experts (I was quite surprised at this); I would much rather move more slowly (from a cost perspective), and let the Germans and Japanese use THEIR $$$ to try and find more answers as to whether there IS or ever WILL BE/CAN BE more alternatives to our current methods of coal, oil and nuclear... There is no such thing as "clean coal" and taxing all energy contirbuting to "supposed" Global Warming will only make the economy (which is already in terrible shape) go to a mega-depression for sure with the added costs of things like CAP 'N TRADE BILLs and the like... Everyone agrees we should all do what we can (within reason) to improve the Earth by not wasting or trashing it, but going "totally green" is not YET the answer.

Too much data squeezed into too little time. The presentation didn't begin until one hour late. Need to focus on fewer charts, only the most important, if time is limited. Also, politcal and economic effects need to be focused on.

very good presentation, well done on both sides.

This may be misleading but I couldn't respond by answering your rating as it is written. We got to Martini at &:00p m sharp and were told by the greeters(2blonds and 1 black gentleman) from Martini's that we had missed the meetup. They said that it had ended at 6:pm I had brought all my info with me and it showed it to them and they said nothing was going on there . My husband was quite put out as we had planned our whole Sat with getting to that meeting. Just needed to have an outlet. I emailed Meetup to tell them, too. Jeannine Vogel

It has not changed. I do not believe man is contributing any significant amount to any global warming and am concerned about the CAP and Trade policy of the current administration. It is a disaster!

both sides well-versed on their presented topics

I thought Robert's presentation was good and very precise. Dr. Box only knew how to explain the models well but again he only explain the models if it was not a model his explanation was not precise and he stumbled around for an answer. With that said, models can be written/manipulated in a way that shows the results you want. What made my mind was the graph that showed the CO2 that was very high hundreds of years ago if not a few thousand and the temperature was still consistent. This showed that even if the CO2 would rise it does not affect the temperature because it is the sun that caused global warming.

Neither side employed science in their presentations. They speculated then speculated on the speculation. Charts, graphs, time lines all these tools to catagorize speculative information were used to present a specific agenda. Science means "true knowledge"neither side presents science. They both used the method of probability to support and agenda. One side, the liberals, want big gov. to solve the problem the ohter wants free enterprize to solve the problem. Let's think about this and ask ourselves, is this really a problem to humankind or is it a natural phenomenon which is controled by natural law? Natural law is where we should be looking for Science.
